About
Council has reviewed its Community Engagement Strategy, which was first adopted in December 2022. The reviewed Strategy will be open for comments until Friday 14 February 2025.
The Strathfield CES sets out an engagement framework specific to the Strathfield LGA on all matters except for engagement on development and planning, which is set out in the Strathfield Community Participation Plan (CPP).
The Strathfield CES has been reviewed and minor changes have been made to the CES including updating demographic information, and inclusion of Council’s HaveYourSay site. This site has been acquired since the last review and provides a range of tools that support engagement processes.
The Strathfield CES sets out Council’s approach to engagement to meet the diverse and specific needs of the Strathfield community to include the community in decision making processes.
The strategy sets out Council’s approach and principles of community engagement, considerations in planning engagements, preparing plans, and determining purpose and scope, assessing levels of impact and levels of engagement (reference to IAP2 spectrum) and tools and methods of engagement.
The draft strategy also provides guidance on identifying communities and stakeholders, engagement timeframes, public exhibitions and outcomes and reporting.
The CES includes identification of stakeholders including ‘hard to reach’ groups and incorporates social justice principles in the approach to community engagement.
