About the policy
The Asset Management policy outlines Council’s commitment to managing its assets responsibly, transparently and in a financially sustainable manner. It establishes the principles and governance arrangements that guide the preparation of the Asset Management Strategy, Asset Management Plans (AMPs) and the annual capital planning cycle. Council will apply several key principles to asset management. Assets will be managed sustainably to provide ongoing value to the community. Decisions will be based on agreed service levels and asset risks, focusing on safety and compliance. Financial responsibility is essential, and asset funding will be aligned with the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP). Asset decisions will be informed by reliable data and condition information, and Council will maintain transparency in its asset programs and priorities.
The Asset Management Strategy outlines Council’s long-term approach to planning, maintaining and renewing assets. It identifies service levels, condition standards, lifecycle costs, funding requirements and the priorities for renewal, upgrade and maintenance. The strategy links asset planning with Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, Operational Plan and the LTFP.
Asset Management Plans (AMPs) has been developed for each major asset class and includes asset inventory, condition assessments, performance measures, demand analysis, risks and 10-year financial forecasts for maintenance, renewal and upgrades.
