Council has resolved to prepare and place on public exhibition a draft Parklet Policy. A copy of the draft Parklet Policy, and the accompanying supporting material titled the draft Parklet Toolkit, can be found to the right.
About the Policy
The purpose of this policy is to guide the construction and design standards of parklets in the Strathfield community. A parklet is a term used to describe the re-allocation of parking space to support street dining activities in the public domain. Parklets became increasingly common in Sydney during the COVID Pandemic. The health requirements which called for groups to dine outdoors, as well as the lower traffic numbers, created an opportunity for councils around Sydney to test and trial parklets. It is now time for Strathfield to develop a policy specifically for parklets which reflects the needs and desires of the local community.
