‘A New Place for Homebush; Ismay Reserve South and 20A Parramatta Road Masterplan’ is now on exhibition. The masterplan has been in development since July 2025 and has been created in collaboration with our Councillors and the community. Council undertook the masterplan entirely in-house within its landscape architecture team and is proud to present the initial plan for comment. The masterplan has a strong focus on community needs and generating significant uplift for the site to improve visual amenity, environmental health, and to provide meaningful forms of recreation, in line with the Strathfield Recreation and Wellness Strategy (also on exhibition until 6 April, 2026).
The masterplan aims to provide the following exciting improvements:
- More green spaces for passive recreation and flexible use 🧘♀️
- More diverse planting and a significant increase in tree canopy cover 🌳
- New pathway adjacent to Parramatta Road with a thick vegetation barrier to prevent splashing 🚶♀️
- New covered outdoor gym 🏋️
- New covered flexible use area with possible interactive water feature - subject to feasibility and budget 💙
- New covered seating area with the potential for pop-up commercial activity such as coffee carts and food trucks ☕
- New bridge connecting the Columbia Lane development with the park and further to Homebush Station 🚉
- New elevated area with loungers and palm trees for a ‘retreat’ style passive space 🌴
- New wander garden with educational signage about interesting and diverse plant species 🌻
