Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What does the name change mean for the local school or train station?
The renaming of schools or train station in the proposed area is not part of the scope of this proposal. Schools and Train Stations often retain their original names for historical or branding reasons, even if the suburb name changes.
  2. Will addresses need to be updated?
All properties within the proposed area will need their addresses updated to reflect the new suburb name. Strathfield Council will update affected properties in their systems and inform the relevant authorities to update their databases. Property owners have the responsibility to update their personal records with various service providers such as banks, health funds, legal documents etc.
  3. Will this impact emergency services, postal delivery, or voting enrolment?
    • Emergency services are notified of suburb name changes to ensure they can accurately locate addresses during emergencies. This helps maintain response times and ensures that services are provided efficiently.
    • Australia Post is informed about suburb name changes and continues to deliver mail to the affected addresses. There might be a transition period during which mail addressed with the old suburb name is still delivered without issues
    • Voters need to ensure their enrolment details are current to avoid any issues during elections
  4. Is this a full boundary change?
As per the diagram above, the proposed suburb boundary line will only be the area south of the railway line, currently part of Homebush, would instead be renamed to Strathfield.
